Easy Oven-Baked Kale Chips

Easy Oven-Baked Kale Chips

An easy snack that’s totally kid approved- even if it’s your inner-kid.

1 bunch of kale- curly or dino (I’m using curly for this recipe)

3-4 tbsp olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Heat oven to 425 degrees fahrenheit

Line your baking sheet with parchment paper

Get out all of your ingredients ahead of time- your hands will get messy!

Wash kale thoroughly, shaking off excess water, use a towel if needed

Debone the kale by slicing along each side of the stem to the middle, cut across the stem to remove and compost, or save for compost stock (read here)

Tear kale into large pieces and place on lined baking sheet

Drizzle olive oil across all pieces of kale

Sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper

With clean hands, begin to massage kale, spreading ingredients into all nooks and crannies

Taste your palm or finger- if you feel you need more of something, add!

Arrange kale pieces evenly, and in one layer, on the baking sheet

Place sheet toward the back of the oven and bake for 6 minutes

Remove and flip pieces over to evenly brown

Return baking sheet, turning it around so the other side is now at the back of the oven

Cook for an additional 6 minutes, or until brown and crispy

Remove and enjoy immediately!
